Mirna Barq
Syrian American Council
Mirna Barq was born in Damascus, Syria, and immigrated to the United States as a child. She holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering and a Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences from the University of Central Florida and currently works in Orange County, Florida.
Since 2011, Barq has been a dedicated advocate for Syria, human rights, and religious freedom. She joined the Syrian American Council early in the Syrian conflict and has held multiple leadership roles. She currently serves as president of the American Coalition for Syria (ACS) and Syrian Christians for Peace, where she leads Christian-based initiatives that unite Syria’s diverse religious communities—including Christian denominations, Muslims, Druze, Alawites, Yazidis, and others—to advance interfaith dialogue, reconciliation, and peacebuilding. Her work is centered on fostering coexistence, dignity, and a just and peaceful future for Syria.
