Dr. Zaher Sahloul

Dr. Zaher Sahloul is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago and a leading voice at the intersection of global health, humanitarian action, and faith. As Founder and President of MedGlobal, he has spearheaded sustainable healthcare and medical relief for vulnerable communities across crisis zones, including Syria, Gaza, Sudan, Ukraine, Yemen, and Bangladesh.
A dedicated interfaith and civic leader, he formerly chaired the Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago and served as President of the Syrian American Medical Society. Dr. Sahloul advises UN and WHO agencies and is a prominent advocate for health equity, medical ethics in conflict, and refugee rights.
His impactful work has been recognized with honors such as the Gandhi Award for Peace, the American Red Cross “Heroes Among Us” award, and UNICEF Chicago’s annual humanitarian award, among others.
